Press Release — White House Chief Calligrapher in Singapore

Pat Blair makes Singapore her 1st international stop

SINGAPORE, 5 July 2019 — Recently retired after 12½ years of service as the White House Chief Calligrapher in Washington, DC, Master Penman Patricia ‘Pat’ Blair makes Singapore her first international stop this September to teach her popular calligraphy workshops at The Workroom, a pioneering calligraphy studio led by Ruth Tan. Tech-savvy, highly skilled and possessing an undeniably rich experience, Patricia ‘Pat’ Blair will be a wonderful mentor to calligraphers and lettering artists, as they get up close and personal to pick up invaluable practical skills to build their own writing portfolio.

As chief calligrapher, Pat Blair worked for three successive presidential administrations, namely that of George W Bush, Barack Obama and the incumbent Donald Trump. She was responsible for the art direction and production for all official and social presidential events. In this digital age, Pat Blair matchmakes the grace of handwritten work with its digitalisation into print. As such, Pat Blair is the top choice for both traditional calligraphers and modern lettering artists alike to learn from. She is very excited to meet the local calligraphy community and to impart her skills in her workshops ‘Pointed Pen Personalities’ and ‘From Pen to Paper to Print’. “I am thrilled at the opportunity to visit Singapore to teach. There is a lot of information, and I want to be clear and thorough.”
